    Let's start with the deceased actresses.



 

 1)Born on Thursday,August 17,1893 in New York City (died:November 22,1980 in Los
Angeles) was this actress,singer,playwright,screenwriter,comedian and sex symbol
whose entertainment career spanned seven decades.
    Known for her lighthearted bawdy double entendres and breezy sexual independence,she made a name for herself in vaudeville and on the stage in New York City before moving to Hollywood to become a comedian,actress and writer in the motion picture industry,as well as appearing on radio and television.For her contributions to American cinema,the American Film Institute named her 15th among the greatest female stars of classic American cinema.
   One of the more controversial movie stars of her day,she encountered many problems,especially censorship.She bucked the system,making comedy out of prudish conventional mores and the Depression-era audience admired her for it.When her cinematic career ended,she wrote books and plays,and continued to perform in Las Vegas,in the United Kingdom and on radio and television, and to record rock and roll albums.Asked about the various efforts to impede her career,she replied: "I believe in censorship.I made a fortune out of it." While true,she also suffered greatly because of it even going to jail for her right to freedom of speech.

 2)Born on Tuesday,August 17,1920 in Ranelagh,Ireland(died:October 24,2015 in
Boise,Idaho,USA) was an Irish-American actress and singer.She was a famous redhead
who was known for playing fiercely passionate but sensible heroines,often in westerns and adventure films.On numerous occasions,she worked with director John Ford and longtime friend John Wayne.
   In 1939 she appeared with Charles Laughton in the production of "The Hunchback Of Notre Dame" and was given a contract by RKO Pictures.From there,she went on to
enjoy a long and highly successful career and acquired the nickname "The Queen of
Technicolor".

model.Her father was an actioneer.She worked as a Nautilas instructor at a local
Y.M.C.A. She entered the annual Peace Garden bodybuilding competition in Grand Forks,North Dakota and won third place.She then moved to Minneapolis to pursue a modeling career.She eventually moved once again and settled in Chicago. She has modeled for clients in Chicago,New York,Los Angeles,Minneapolis and Japan.She has appeared in TV commercials for Sears,Gerber baby food and L'Oreal and been featured in catalogs for Sears,K-Mart,Fingerhut and J.C. Penney.She was the Playmate of the Month in the July,1987 issue of "Playboy."   He began his acting career in television with a brief appearance in episode 112 of "Little House On The Prairie" (December 4, 1974),directed by his father. Following his film debut in the drama "Taps" (1981) and a diverse range of film roles in the 1980s,including "Fast Times At Ridgemont High" (1982),he garnered critical attention for his roles in the crime dramas "At Close Range" (1986),"State Of Grace" (1990) and "Carlito's Way" (1993). He received the AFI Life Achievement Award in 2003, the Golden Globe Cecil B. DeMille Award in 2010, and the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Barack Obama in 2016.

 8) Born on Sunday,August 17,1958 in Hollywood,California,USA is this singer-songwriter who gained worldwide fame as the lead singer of a very popular all girl band,one of the most successful all-female bands of all time.She grew up in the city of Thousand Oaks located in Ventura county,California.Originally she began her career in 1977 as a member of the Los Angeles punk band "The Germs",she went on to join that girl band as lead singer after the band's formation in 1978.The band has sold over 7 million records worldwide.One of the bands songs is heard in the opening of the movie "Fast Times At Ridgemont High" (1982)
 After dissolution of the band in 1985,she went on to have a successful solo career with many hits and one of them reaching #1 on the US Billboard Hot 100 in 1987.
   At 43 years of age she posed nude in the August,2001 issue of Playboy.
   Her autobiography,"Lips Unsealed", published in June 2010,was a New York Times Best Seller and received favorable reviews.On August 11,2011,as a member of the girl band which she was part of,she received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
