Welcome to the Top 6500:2019 edition commemorating 65 years of rock and roll.
This list is an update of the July 2014 Top 6000.Unlike the July of 2014 this revised list will use New Zealand charts in compiling the Top 6500.Further,in the past five years there has been some rather unique chart action,which will turn many of the songs from the former Top 6000 on their heads.
Let's get started by introducing the bottom 100.We begin the Top 6500 at #6500 with a British rock band that was banned by US immigration officials for 5 years from 1964-1969 from entering the USA,has the song at position #6500.US Immigration
officials never expressed a reason for denying the band's entry to the USA,This is the band's first of nine songs in the Top 6500. A rock band based out of Boston with lead singer "Steven Tyler" has the song at position #6495.It is their first of 15 entries in the top 6500. At #6489 the hottest British girl group of the 1990s (some say of all-time)
places their first of 12 songs in the Top 6500.
They have two songs in the Top 200. The Australian hard rock band at position #6482 makes their first of 11 entries in the Top 6500. The song at position #6477 by this Meridian,Mississippi native was the song that
Cash Box Magazine (USA) ranked as the #1 single for the entire year of 1974.It is his one and only song in the Top 6500. At position #6421 this Australian singer charts her first of fourteen (14) songs in the Top 6500. At position #6410 this Cincinnati,Ohio group charts it's first of three (3) songs in
the Top 6500. The Motown supergroup at position #6406 make their first of 10 entries in the Top 6500 countdown. The Boston born Capricorn at #6404 makes her first of twelve entries. One of the
12 entries lies in the Top 1000.Sadly LaDonna Adrian Gaines died on May 17,2012. The female of the duet at position #6402 some claim her to be the greatest female vocalist of all-time.This is her first of nine entries.This does not include her recordings with the Supremes.
